just got one new samsung solstic, and you are confuse about setting the locking time,,?
someone state about the backlight time, the fact is, the backlight time on samsung solstic and the locking time is the same, if you even did not know how to set the blackligh/Locking time, follow the tips below:

How to Configure The Backlight On SGH-A887 (Solstice) , How to set the locking time on At & t samsung Solstice

To change the backlight setting follow the steps below:

1. From the standby
   screen, press Menu
2. Press Settings
3. Press Display and Light
4. Press Backlight Time
5. Press the
   desired Backlight setting from the following:
   • 8 Seconds
   • 15 Seconds
   • 30 Seconds
   • 1 Minute
   • 3 Minutes
   • 10 Minutes
6. Press Save to keep the Backlight Time setting

Note:
Lengthy backlight times will drain the battery faster.
