User reviews for At & t Samsung Jack Black (via BestBuy Consumers)
GOOD: Pleasing to the eye, qwerty, side buttons, video, fast internet
BAD: Difficult to navigate, too much unnecessary junk, contact list, battery life
“My husband got one for work and I, being the gadget junkie, was excited and played with it for a while. It was very difficult to navigate the menus and contacts list. Trying to move around the email was horrible. Trying to set up contacts was ridiculous. The battery ran out almost all the way in about 6-7 hours, just on standby and playing. There was all kind of junk programs and shortcuts in the start menu and contacts list.
As far as the internet goes, it was great. I guess the speed depends on which carrier you have. This was on AT&T and was really fast. It had lots of memory too. The keyboard, like most qwerties was cramped, but pretty easy. The shortcut keys at the bottom are nice. It says the camera is 3 or so mp, but the quality wasn’t very good. The camera is also really hard to navigate. One thing I enjoyed was that you can watch Youtube videos on it.
I wouldn’t recommend this phone over a Blackberry. The concept is good, but needs some tweaking. I don’t know how much was paid for this phone, so I couldn’t give an accurate rating on value for price.”
So I would Not recommend this Device.
What’s great about it: Qwerty Keyboard, Continuing Conversation, Video Capabilities
What’s not so great: Short battery life, difficult to navigate
“I came from a Blackberry 8310 which was awesome, however it did not have video capabilities. The Samsung Jack does have those capabilities, however I have not got to use them. I have had the phone a week and I am taking it back. Every time I try to send a picture to someone, it gives me an error message, then locks up and dies. The phone is overall hard to navigate. The menu’s are confusing, and the battery life is horrible. It does come with some good games though, and I like the fact that you have the continuing conversation in the text messages. It does not have spell check like the Blackberry, so that was disappointing. Believe it or not, sometimes it’s even hard to make a phone call! It is definitely not as intuitive as the Blackberry or even just a regular phone! I do not use the email, so I am unable to give any info for that.”
